The FlyWP Helper Plugin creates a vital link between your WordPress site and the FlyWP platform, enabling many of our powerful remote management features to function correctly.
You can find the status indicator for the plugin on your FlyWP site dashboard, located in the “Overview” section. This feature gives you a quick visual confirmation of the connection and provides a simple way to establish it if it’s missing.
Initial Status: Unknown
When you first add a site to FlyWP, the status for the FlyWP Helper Plugin will be displayed as Unknown. This is also the case after migrating an existing WordPress site to our platform, as the helper plugin would not have been installed automatically during the migration process.
This status simply means that FlyWP has not yet verified the presence and activation of its helper plugin on your WordPress installation. This is the default state and is perfectly normal.

Using the “Refresh” Button
To resolve the “Unknown” status and ensure your site is correctly linked to FlyWP, you can use the Refresh button. Clicking this button initiates a sequence of actions:
- Plugin Check: FlyWP securely connects to your site to check if the FlyWP Helper Plugin is already installed.
- Installation & Activation: If the plugin is not found, FlyWP will automatically install and activate it for you. There’s no need to log into your WordPress admin dashboard manually.
- Status Verification: Once the plugin is active, FlyWP verifies the connection, and the status on your dashboard will update to reflect a successful connection (e.g., “Active”).
This one-click process is particularly beneficial for migrated sites, streamlining the setup and ensuring all of FlyWP’s management features can function correctly without requiring manual plugin installation.

What Problems Does This Solve?
Ensuring the FlyWP Helper Plugin is active is crucial for several key management features to work correctly. Installing it will fix issues such as:
- Magic Login Not Working: The magic login feature relies on the helper plugin to securely authenticate you into your WordPress admin dashboard without a password.
- Updates Page Not Loading: The plugin provides the necessary connection for FlyWP to accurately fetch and display available updates for your site’s core, plugins, and themes.
- Plugin and Theme Updater Failures: Without the helper plugin, FlyWP cannot manage updates for your plugins and themes directly from the dashboard.
In short, the helper plugin is the bridge that allows many of FlyWP’s powerful features to communicate with your WordPress site.
