How to use FlyWP WordPress Site Migration (Beta)

FlyWP is a compact server management solution that lets you manage all your servers with a fingertip. Even if you want to migrate an existing site to a newer one, FlyWP will assist you in doing that swiftly.
In this documentation, we’re going to show you how to easily migrate from an existing site to a new site using FlyWP.

PS: The Migrate Feature is still in Beta, as such, some things might not work as expected.
We suggest that you migrate the site into a testing domain to test out your site. After which, you can rename your site to the domain you wish.

Automatic Migration

To Migrate an existing site to FlyWP automatically, Please follow the steps below.

1. First, Go to your server, where you will see a new button called Migrate (Beta). Click on it.

2. You will get a page like this. Here enter the website you wish to migrate to be Automatic.

3. After entering your website in the URL Box, you can see that Connect to WordPress lit up. Click on that.

4. After clicking on Connect to WordPress, you will be redirected to your website, where FlyWP will request permission to install the FlyWP migration Plugin.

5. After logging in, you will see a page requesting Permission to connect with your site. Select Yes, I approve of this connection to grant FlyWP migrator necessary permission.

6. After approving the connection, you will be redirected back to FlyWP and be able to see that your site is now ready for Migration. Click Next to proceed to the next step.

7. After clicking next, you will be greeted with the familiar Site Creation steps in FlyWP. Here you can enter the site domain that you wish your migrated site to use.

Please note that as the Site Migration Feature is still in beta, some things might break during the Migration. As such, we suggest that you use the FlyWP.xyz Test domain to test out your Migrated site first. Afterwards, you may rename the site.

8. On the next page, you will be able to modify PHP version and other settings. For compatibility, we would suggest that you use the same PHP version as you previously used.

9. On the last page, you will see the summary of your migration. If you are satisfied, click on Migrate Site. This will start the Migration process for your site.

10. And now, FlyWP will first create a basic site to migrate your site into.

11. After that is done, you will see the Migrating Site Page showing the current Progress of the site migration

PS: It might take a while depending on your site’s size and the uploaded files. However, if it takes too long, you can try again.

12. After Migration complete, you will now be redirected to the sites Page.

Congratulations! Your site has been migrated successfully. You can now test your website out.
