Managing infrastructure across a team requires more than just basic permissions. You need precise control over who can access what, secure authentication, and reliable background operations.
This FlyWP release brings exactly that with resource-specific multi-role assignments, a more secure Ed25519-signed Magic Login, and a more resilient way to run WordPress updates.
Let’s explore what’s new.
🚀 New Features:
Resource-Specific Multi-Role Assignments
Team permissions just got significantly more flexible.
You can now assign different roles to the same team member across different resources. For example, someone can be a Server Admin on one server, a Site Admin on another, and a Viewer on a different site.
You can also assign specialized access such as DNS Manager at the zone level.
This gives teams more granular control over infrastructure access without having to rely on broad, one-size-fits-all permissions.
Highlights
- Assign different roles across different resources
- Control access at the server, site, and DNS zone level
- Support multiple roles based on specific responsibilities
- Give team members exactly the access they need
Granular permissions. Better control. Less unnecessary access.
Ed25519-Signed Magic Login
Magic Login is now more secure with per-site Ed25519 cryptographic signing.
The new signing mechanism is completely independent of the API key, creating a more isolated and robust authentication flow for Magic Login.
This adds an additional layer of security while keeping the login experience simple and convenient.
A streamlined flow, reducing friction and helping new team members get started faster.
🚀 Improvements & Fixes:
- Smoother Member Access Drawer: We’ve polished the member access drawer to ensure it now slides in and out smoothly, providing a more consistent and responsive experience when managing team permissions.
- More Reliable WordPress Updates with WP-CLI: WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates are now handled through WP-CLI on a dedicated
long_runningqueue. Previously, updates relied on HTTP requests to the FlyWP Helper and waited inline for completion. The new approach makes update operations more resilient and significantly reduces the risk of timeout-related failures.
This means:
- More reliable WordPress updates
- Better handling of long-running operations
- Reduced timeout risk
- More resilient background processing
These improvements work behind the scenes to make day-to-day WordPress management more dependable.
