February 2026 in Review: Smarter Backups, Stronger Security & Stable Infrastructure

February was a big month for strengthening FlyWP’s foundation. Across multiple releases, we focused on delivering smarter backup controls, stronger security layers, improved migration recovery, and deeper system stability.

Here’s everything we shipped this month 👇

⭐ New Features:

Protect Your WordPress Site with a Password on FlyWP

HTTP Basic Authentication (Built-In):

FlyWP now supports HTTP Basic Auth.

  • Instantly protect staging and private sites
  • No additional plugins required
  • Ideal for development and client previews

Enable it from:
Site → Security Settings → Enable HTTP Basic Authentication

A simple feature – but a powerful security addition.

Configurable Backup Notifications:

You can now customize how you receive backup alerts.

  • Flexible alerting
  • Better monitoring visibility
  • Stronger operational confidence

Never miss critical backup events again.

This gives you stronger operational confidence, especially when managing multiple sites.

⚙️ Quality & Stability Improvements:

February included several important infrastructure-level improvements to eliminate edge-case failures and increase system predictability.

Smart Retry & Recovery for Migrations

Improved Migration Recovery & Security Fixes

When a migration fails, FlyWP now properly saves the failed state.

  • Better recovery handling
  • Easier troubleshooting
  • Reduced the need to restart migrations from scratch

OpenLiteSpeed PHP Version Reliability Fix

We resolved an issue where PHP version changes were not applying correctly on OpenLiteSpeed (OLS).

Now:

  • PHP changes apply reliably
  • No mismatch between selected and active versions

Switching PHP versions is now safer and more predictable.

  • Proxy & PHP Timeout Alignment: Fixed mismatched timeout configurations between proxy and PHP to prevent unexpected execution failures.
  • System Cron Fix: Resolved missing cron configuration on minimal OS images to ensure scheduled tasks run consistently.
  • CPU Usage Optimization: Optimized internal status-check handling to prevent occasional CPU spikes.
  • Improved S3 Backup Error Handling: Enhanced error trapping to prevent silent S3 backup failures and improve transparency.

🌿 Enhancements:

Beyond fixes, we improved core workflows that power everyday WordPress management.

Improved WordPress Config Handling:

WP Config Final

We refined how FlyWP handles WordPress configuration to better align with native WP constants.

  • Stronger validation during config updates
  • More predictable behavior across environments
  • Reduced misconfiguration risk during setup

This makes WordPress settings safer and more consistent, especially on production sites.

Enhanced Server & Site RBAC

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) has been strengthened.

  • Clearer permission boundaries
  • Better resource-level access control

Perfect for agencies and teams managing multiple environments.

Backup Exclusions UI Improvement

Backup exclusions now behave exactly as displayed in the UI.

  • Default exclusions are clearly visible
  • No hidden background exclusions
  • What you see is what gets backed up

Greater transparency. Zero surprises.

More Control Over WP Core Updates

We expanded control over WordPress core update settings.

  • Better timing control
  • Improved stability across projects
  • Reduced unexpected update risks

Safer Search-Replace During Migrations

Search-replace operations can now be limited to the options table only. This significantly reduces unintended data modifications during site transfers.

Bug Fixes:

February also addressed several important edge cases and workflow disruptions:

  • Fixed route migration type handling during site creation
  • Resolved the migrator plugin reinstallation issue after WordPress authorization
  • Patched WireGuard public port exposure
  • Fixed unintended SSL certificate deletion for test domains
  • Improved pCloud upload performance for faster and more reliable backups

These fixes improve day-to-day reliability across server and site management.
