What’s New in FlyWP (August 2025): Browser-Based Terminal, Helper Plugin Updates & More

August was a transformative month at FlyWP, bringing a suite of powerful updates to streamline WordPress site management. From significant performance boosts to innovative features, we’re excited to share the highlights of what we delivered in August 2025, along with a sneak peek at what’s on the horizon.

All New Features:

1. Browser-Based Terminal Access:

Say goodbye to the hassle of external SSH clients. FlyWP’s integrated terminal gives you direct, secure shell access to your server – right from your browser.

Introducing browser based terminal access

This powerful feature eliminates the need for extra applications, so you can:

  • Run commands, troubleshoot, and manage files – without leaving your browser
  • Use an embedded terminal inside the browser
  • Minimize or resize it for your convenience
  • No need to reopen – it stays with you across pages

Accessing the Terminal:

Follow the simple steps to turn on sleep mode for your sites or wake them up:

  • Navigate to the Servers page in your FlyWP dashboard.
  • Select the server you wish to access, then go to the Manage tab.
  • Click on the Terminal button.
  • For security, you will be prompted to enter your FlyWP account password to authenticate the session.
  • Once authenticated, FlyWP will automatically establish a secure connection, and you’ll be greeted by the command prompt, ready to go.

2. Install Specific WordPress Versions:

Need a site on a particular WordPress version? No problem – FlyWP makes it simple.

When creating a new site, you can now choose which WordPress version to install:

  • Always stay current with the latest release
  • Roll back to older versions for compatibility testing or legacy projects

Why it’s useful:

This flexibility helps you test plugins, themes, and custom code safely – ensuring everything works perfectly before going live. Whether you’re a developer, tester, or just cautious about updates, you’re always in control.

3. Sites Helper Plugin Status:

The FlyWP Sites helper plugin status feature now includes an auto-fix option. This means you can quickly check the status of your helper plugin and, if an issue is detected, resolve it with a single click from your dashboard or your site’s updates page.

This enhancement helps ensure your sites are always running optimally and reduces the need for manual troubleshooting.

Plugin Status Indicator:

On your FlyWP site dashboard, under the Overview section, you’ll now see a status indicator for the plugin.

  • Instantly check if your plugin is connected
  • Get a quick visual confirmation of the connection
  • Easily establish the connection if it’s missing

Why the FlyWP Helper Plugin Matters:

Keeping the FlyWP Helper Plugin active is essential – many key management features rely on it to work properly. Without it, you may run into issues like:

  • Magic Login is not working – the plugin securely authenticates you into your WordPress admin without a password.
  • Updates page not loading – it ensures FlyWP can fetch and display available updates for WordPress core, plugins, and themes.
  • Plugin & theme updater failures – the plugin enables FlyWP to manage updates directly from your dashboard.

In short, the Helper Plugin acts as the bridge between FlyWP and your WordPress site, powering the seamless management features you rely on.
