# Clone or Transfer a Docker Compose App

> Clone a Docker Compose App with its data to another server in your team, or transfer the app entirely.

Source: https://flywp.com/docs/site/docker-compose-apps/clone-and-transfer/

Use **Clone** to duplicate an app and its data, or **Transfer** to move the app to another server in your team. You can find both options on the **Advanced** page under **Clone or Transfer App**.

Only users with permission to delete the app can clone or transfer it.

## Clone the app

Clone an app to test changes safely on a duplicate, or to run an identical instance on a second server.

1. Open your app and navigate to **Settings** → **General**.
2. Under **Clone or Transfer App**, click **Clone**.
3. Choose the server for the copy.
4. Enter a **Name of the copy**.
5. Click **Clone the app now**.

You can clone an app only after it has been deployed.

## Transfer the app

Transfer an app when you want to move it to another server in your team.

1. Open your app and navigate to **Settings** → **General**.
2. Under **Clone or Transfer App**, click **Transfer**.
3. Choose the target server.
4. Start the transfer.

A transfer copies the app and its data to the target server. All deploys and app actions pause while the transfer is running.

:::note
If no other server in your team can host the app, the **Transfer** page will let you know. The target server must meet all requirements for running Docker Compose Apps, as outlined in [Before you begin](https://flywp.com/docs/site/docker-compose-apps/#before-you-begin).
